Stratham Historical Society Scholarships

Winfield Foote Award for Academic Excellence, High School Seniors, $1,000.00
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from SAU 16. Stratham residents graduating from private schools outside the district may also apply.

Special consideration will be given to demonstrated proficiency in those areas that relate to the Stratham Historical Society's mission statement (i.e., Social Studies and History). SAU 16 students who have achieved academic success in the Plant and Animal Science course at the Seacoast School of Technology are also encouraged to apply. The $1,000.00 award will be payable directly to an accredited college where the recipient has matriculated for the coming academic year.

Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence, Rising College Juniors and Seniors
Applicants must be a legal resident of Stratham, Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, or Newfields.
Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year at an accredited four-year college or university.
In case of a tie, Stratham residents will be given priority.

Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence, Thesis/Dissertation Award for Graduate Students
Award Criteria: Proposals evaluated on the overall quality of organization and written expression, appropriateness of the research methods to the research question, and the fit with the mission of the Stratham Historical Society. Priority given to:

  • Topics specifically related to Stratham and Seacoast New Hampshire.
  • Stratham residents of any accredited college.  (non-Stratham residents shall be limited to graduate students attending a New Hampshire college/university)
